An interesting graph, from an article in the
Telegraph which focuses mostly on the social consequences of unemployment. The new peak is of course interesting, but the long-term trend is in my view equally ominous.
A new twist is an apparent decline in the "employment intensity of growth" as rebounding output requires fewer extra workers. As such, it may be hard to re-absorb those laid off even if recovery gathers pace...
