Devsuroop Singh's Winged Tensegrities

I am not sure if they are tensile structures, classic tensegrities or both, but either way, Singh's designs are beautiful. These photos were uploaded by him, to Picasa, back in August 2007.

The silver strut he uses reminds me of the v-expander. A v-expander module is constructed from four equal length compressive members, six equal length outer tension cables and a central tendon. Its centre tendon is crucial as it stresses the whole structure, holds the form together and gives it rigidity.

Singh's compression member is curved, though.
Singh also built a tensegrity table, but you cannot see in the photo how the tension network is enabled.
