Rufty Tufty Boys Beanie Hat Tutorial By Ros Coffey of RosMadeMe Blog

If you love to knit and are looking for a beanie to make for a little boy then you'll be pleased to know that Ros Coffey has a tutorial on her RosMadeMe Blog blog showing you how to make a "Rufty Tufty Boys Beanie Hat." Have fun knitting.

Rufty Tufty Boys Beanie Hat

Here's what Ros had to say about her tutorial:  I have found lots of hats for little girls but hats for little boys are few and far between, so using the classic beanie design which uses multiples of eight stitches and knits in the round, I came up with a little number in cotton, which is both soft, structured and textured. They are such a quick knit I have made four for my first Spring Craft Show on Saturday, fingers crossed that they sell well!

Ros's Bio:I live by the sea, in Essex, in Leigh-on-sea. I have been making things since I was a child, earliest memories were embroidering squares of binca matting, making felt egg cups and ripping back my knitting when my sister had picked up a dropped stitch... yep, it really did have to be all my own work! I am a dreadful hoarder, with stashes of wool and fabric hidden around my house, together with the projects that I have not yet finished. I am currently making cushions, quilted, appliqued, stencilled... actually just anything that I will enjoy crafting.

Snowman Ornament Tutorial By June Crawford of A Creative Dream

Are you looking for an adorable and different baby gift or ornament for your home? If you are then you'll be happy to know that June Crawford has a wonderful tutorial on her A Creative Dream blog showing you how to make an adorable snowman ornament.

Copyright © 2009 - All Rights Reserved - Written by June Crawford of A Creative Dream

Here's what June had to say about her tutorial:  A new baby is coming (thank goodness it isn't mine!)!!!   We have a new mommy to be at work. This is Kristen's first baby, it's a little boy, and she's due in August. I really don't know Kristen more than to say hi and ask her how it's all going in the hallway, but I sure am excited for her. I don't have a first clue about what the nursery is done in, or really what she's interested in, or what she has for the baby...but, because I think First Christmas ornaments are always a great gift, I'm going to make one for the baby. I asked several people in her department what the baby's name is going to be, and not a single one could remember, but they promised to find out for me so I could make it more personal. After considering all of my options, I've decided to go with a snowman (mostly because I think they are so darned cute!). I'm going to share the making of it with you, so on to the snowman! (Many thanks to my daughter, Kate, for taking pics for me!)

Sewing 101 - Part 1 and Part 2 Tutorials By Ros Coffey of RosMadeMe Blog

Have you always wanted to learn how to sew but find patterns intimidating.  Well, if you have then you'll  be pleased to know that Ros Coffey has a 2-part Sewing 101 tutorial on her RosMadeMe Blog blog showing you how to read a pattern and make an infant's dress.

Sewing 101 - How to Use a Pattern - The Preparation
Sewing 101 - Part 2 - Making Up

Copyright © 2012 - All Rights Reserved - Written by Ros Coffey of RosMadeMe Blog.

Here's what Ros had to say about her tutorial:  The Pattern - I wrote at the beginning of the year that we would go back to basics over the year and it came home to me this week, that some people may not have been taught to do some of the techniques that I take for granted. This is what happens when Mrs Logan got you through your Needlecraft & Dress O level at the Convent! So I thought we might take a look at how to make clothes and use patterns together with the weird and wonderful language and terms used, so with this in mind I am going to make some baby clothes.

The Dress - Welcome back after drinking your coffee and your break. Now let the real fun begin, we are going to start sewing in earnest, but of course, you know that we are not going straight to the machine, switch on your iron, get the instructions to hand and collect a couple of scraps of the fabric which you have cut out.

Do Small Things With Great Love Stitchery Free Pattern By Amy of nanaCompany

Looking for a sweet embroidery design to add to a baby quilt or mini wall quilt?  If you are then you'll want to check out the tutorial that Amy has on her nanaCompany blog.  What a great saying.

Copyright © 2012 - All Rights Reserved - Amy of nanaCompany.

Here's what Amy had to say about her pattern: "We cannot do great things, but we can do small things with great love." ~ Mother Teresa

I love this quote. It's what I try to do in my own way. Apparently Mother Teresa, whose real name was Agnes, chose the name Teresa when she took her religious vows in honor of Saint Therese de Lisieux ~ "the little flower" who believed that life should be spent scattering "flowers"... that is, small acts of love.

So, when I wanted to embroider these words, it made a lot of sense to frame them with lazy daisies and little buds. And I've turned my pencil drawing into a pdf pattern for you...

Amy's Bio - Hi, my name is Amy. I live in a small house near the ocean in Los Angeles with my three children and my awesome husband. We are a lively family but we live very quietly ~ I can honestly say that all five of us are homebodies, looking forward to returning home whenever we go out. But the fun thing I've discovered while looking through my camera these past years, is that there is a lot of beauty in our "everyday." And I'm looking forward to sharing with you my life as I create and explore new ways to find that beauty.

Completely self-taught in everything, I am a "see it- do it" kind of girl. And I love trying new things. Maybe someday I'll have a real style, but for now I love vintage and modern, girly and clean, and everything in between.

Wetbag Free Tutorial by Christie Hurst of A Lemon Squeezy Home

Why carry wet cloth diapers and kids bathing suits around in a grocery bag when you can carry them around in an adorable wetbag? If you're intrigued then check out Christie Hurst's Wetbag Tutorial. Have fun makes lots of them.

Copyright © 2010 - All Rights Reserved - Christie Hurst of A Lemon Squeezy Home

Here's what Christie had to say about her tutorial: In case you missed me on my friend Sabra's blog Sew a Straight Line, I was a guest blogger a while back and did a tutorial on how to make a wetbag.

I like wetbags because you can use them for more than just cloth diapering.  Take them to the pool for wet clothing and towels.  Maybe you have a little one who is potty training.  This would be a handy thing to have in the diaper bag for any accidents.  Much cuter than a plastic grocery bag, don’t you think?  This wetbag ends up being 9” x 12” and will fit about 3 large cloth diapers, but you can certainly adjust the sizes to make a larger bag.

Here's what Christie had to say about her tutorial:  I know there are tutorials for diaper clutches that have been around everywhere for a few years.  I’ve been making mine for three years now, and it’s always a great go-to baby shower gift.  Out of everything my friends or family order for me to make, this would be the top one.  So I just thought I’d share how I make mine, complete with a pattern download.

Baby Blanket Gift Set - Part 1 and 2 Free Tutorials by Jessica Levitt of Juicy Bits

Are you looking for an adorable baby shower gift? If you are then you'll be happy to know that  Jessica Levitt has two wonderful tutorials on her Juicy Bits blog showing you how to make a baby blanket, bib, burp cloths, and onsie.

Here's what Jessica had to say about her tutorials:   I've decided to do this tutorial in two parts, because I have a feeling I'm going to get pretty wordy and I don't want it to be "the post that never ends." So this first part is how to make the blanket and part 2 is how to make the bib, burp cloths, and onsie.

I think this makes a really great baby shower gift. It's personal and homemade, but still elegant and doesn't take as long as a whole baby quilt.

There are, of course, a million different ways this could be done...I'll give you my reasoning as I go along and you can decide for yourself if you agree.

A Burp Cloth Tutorial From Sylvia of Pieces From My Scrapbag Blog

Thanks so much to Sylvia of Pieces From My Scrapbag blog for allowing us to publish her whole tutorial on our blog.  If you want to know how to make a burp cloth here's how:

Just what a sewer and a quilter loves...possibilities! A selection of burp cloths. The finished size is 9.5"-10" wide, length 18 or 19". There are very few directions and no rules..*VBS* I make them from flannel, and it certainly doesn't have to be the HIGH end kind. I've been making these for about 6 years now, and find they make a nice baby shower gift. Or for the grandchild of a friend..*VBS* I usually make a dozen.

You need a fat quarter of soft flannel for each. I usually buy baby and kid flannel by the yard. You get 6 cloths from 1.5 yds. For the demo I used a left over half yard piece. Straighten your edges and then split the half yard on the fold line. You now have a piece that is about 20" wide by 18-19" long.

Fold right sides together and stitch around 3 sides if you are using a folded piece like this. If not, and you've mis-matched the two sides, which is neat for using up 9 & 10" left overs, then you would sew all 4 sides, leaving about a 3" opening somewhere so you can turn it right side out. Turn right side out and give it a shake.

Pick out the corners (you know what that means, right?) and then press the rectangle so it's smooth. Tuck in the little part where you've turned it. Top stitch around the 4 sides..LESS than the 1/4" seam or you won't catch the opening. No reason to close that by hand when the top stitch will do it for you. I make my stitching about 1/8" from the edge. You could use decorative stitching if you have that on your machine. Hearts or vines would look neat. Back to the ironing board, and fold in half across the 9" way.

Press really well so there is a crease. Then stitch from side to side across that 9". What that seam does is gives something that will rest well on your shoulder while you are burping baby. I've left a thread so you an see the stitching line across the blue ducks. It should enlarge if you need it to.

I do a batch of these at a time, it's easier to cut several rather than just one or two. I chain press them, and chain sew them, etc, etc, etc. OK..that's it for burp cloths!
