Here's what Laura had to say about her tutorial: A great way to add an extra touch to winter themed art is with snow and icicles. You can achieve the look of ice and snow using White Flocking Powder and Twinklets Diamond Dust Glitter Sugar Crystal. Both products are available at some craft stores, art supply stores, and on the Internet. To give this Christmas Toy Shop a touch of winter I added snow and icicles to the bay windows.

Creating a Stained Glass Look by Embossing Transparency Film Free Tutorial By Laura Carson of Artfully Musing Blog

I just love stained glass and would like to learn how to create beautiful stained glass creations. That's not going to happen anytime soon, but in the meantime I can learn how to create stain glass looking mixed media creations using transparency film. With this in mind I was happy to see that Laura Carson had a wonderful tutorial on her Artfully Musing blog showing you how to create a beautiful stained glass look by embossing transparency film. How beautiful is Laura's creation? I'm looking forward to learning how to do this. How about you?

Creating a Stained Glass Look by Embossing Transparency Film

Here's what Laura had to say about her tutorial: In November I posted a tutorial on “Creating a Stained Glass Look Using a Glass Slide”. Embossing transparency film is another option to creating the look of stained glass although I don’t think is sparkles quite as nicely as real glass. But with transparency film, you can print and emboss any digital image, whereas with glass, you are limited to rubber stamps.

The base of the ATC below is an image of an art nouveau stained glass window that I printed on transparency film and embossed. So that you could better see the colors on the transparency, the first image of the piece is photographed on white paper. The second image is photographed with the light behind the piece. How’s My Hair – Accordion Folded Book Free Tutorial By Laura Carson of Artfully Musing Blog

I'm enthralled with Marie Antoinette and all the amazing art creations there are today about her. So, I was really pleased to see that Laura Carson had a wonderful tutorial on her Artfully Musing blog showing you how to make a Marie Antoinette accordion book. It's on my "to do" soon list.

“How’s My Hair” – Accordion Folded Book

Here's what Laura had to say about her tutorial: Accordion folded books are simple to make and require no sewing. Everything is assembled with glue. You can make them any size you want and can use them to display art, as a journal, as scrapbook or as a piece of art. The new Rectangular Fleur de Lys Frames carried by Alpha Stamps make perfect book covers. I also thought that Alpha Stamp’s new humorous “How’s My Hair” rubber stamp set and collage sheet would make a fun topic for a book.

The new stamps and images are based on the craze of the French court in the 1770s (Marie Antoinette’s time) of creating huge hairstyles called “le pouf”. Hair dressers used cushions made of fabric or cork and the woman’s own hair as well as added hair pieces that would be combed over and piled on top of the cushions. Next were added enormous curls, feathers, lace, flowers and other ornaments. The bigger the hair the higher the status!

Mosaic Collage Free Tutorial By Terri Stegmiller of StegArt

Here's what Terri had to say about her mosaic collage tutorial: I really enjoy the look of art that is called decoupage. Where small pieces of papers are adhered to an object, usually covering that object entirely. The end result reminds me of glass mosaics and collages. That’s where the idea came for the name of this technique. I had wondered for some time how I could create this look, or something close to this look, in fabric. I’m not positive how long it took me to work through the process in my brain, perhaps maybe a few months, but I was quite pleased with my results.
