How To Make A Pincushion Ring Tutorial By Alma Stoller

I just LOVE Alma Stoller's tutorial for making a pincushion ring. I'm definitely going to make a few of these.

Here's what Alma had to say about her tutorial:  Inspired by the pincushion ring the adorable and insanely talented Mondo Guerra often wore on Project Runway, I decided to make my own.

A Wool Crazy Christmas Pincushion Pattern By Kaaren Johnston of The Painted Quilt

By now you know for sure that I just LOVE pincushions. Therefore, you have to know that there was no way I was going to avoid adding  Kaaren Johnston's adorable "A Wool Crazy Christmas" pincushion to my "to do" list.  In fact, I'm going to add it to the top of my rather lengthy "to do" list.  Kaaren shared her wonderful pattern on her The Painted Quilt blog.  I hope you enjoy making yours.  I know I'm going to LOVE mine.

First Friday Freebie #15 - A Wool Crazy Christmas

Here's what Kaaren had to say about her pattern:  It’s the First Friday of the month again. Where is the time going?

I took a much needed break yesterday from the packing, purging and sorting to rest and regroup. I can’t wait until the move is over and and we’re settled in our new home.

Thank goodness I was able to remain a project ahead with my FFF’s and this month’s design was completed just after we purchased our new/old home at the end of September. I knew I just wouldn’t have the time to work on the design once the packing began.

I designed this month’s FFF in anticipation of the upcoming holiday season. I hope you enjoy making A Wool Crazy Christmas as much as I did.

Kaaren's Bio: I am an artist and have recently retired from actively designing, publishing and travel teaching in the decorative painting industry. A short while later, in December of 2010, we moved from Eastern Ontario to the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. Quilting, stitching, applique and most recently rug hooking have become my new passions. Oh, and did I mention that I love to make and collect pincushions and needlecases! Join me on the First Friday of every month when I release a new Freebie design for you to make and enjoy.

Here's what Kaaren had to say about her pattern:  My obsession with pincushions continues this month. After posting the photo of a pincushion that I designed for my swap partner in THIS post, several of you asked me to share the pattern so I decided to do so for this month’s First Friday Freebie.

Here's what Kaaren had to say about her pattern:  It’s June the 1st already and coincidently, the First Friday of the month as well! Where does the time go?

By now you all know that two of my favorite things to make and collect are needle cases and pincushions…and you can never have too many of either one! Right?

Last month’s FFF was a needle case so can you guess what I designed this month? You’re absolutely right if you guessed a pincushion. I’m so predictable!

Here is Needles and Pins.

Tomato Pincushion Tutorial By Kaaren Johnston of The Painted Quilt

If you love pincushions like I do then you'll be happy to see that Kaaren Johnston has another wonderful tutorial on her The Painted Quilt blog showing you how to make a tomato pincushion.  Enjoy!

Copyright © 2009 - All Rights Reserved - Kaaren Johnston of The Painted Quilt

Here's what Kaaren had to say about her tutorial: If you've dropped in by chance, then welcome to my first tutorial. Pull up a comfortable chair, grab a cup of tea...or coffee if you prefer...and follow along. If perhaps you're joining me because you have the same obsession with pincushions as I do, then welcome to my PA (Pincushions Anonymous) meeting. Tea and coffee are the beverages of the day.

At the outset, I would like to apologize for a few out-of-focus photos. I'm still learning about my camera and I think I just might have gotten a wee bit too close on some of them. Hopefully you'll still be able to follow along and if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.

So without further ado, let's get started. What you'll need are scissors, fabric of your choosing, sewing needle and thread, florist's sand or polyester batting for stuffing, a 5" needle or any long needle, green cotton perle thread or 2 strands of green floss, green wool or felt and fabric glue.

Vintage Jelly Form Pincushion Free Tutorial By Karen Bailey of Todolwen Blog

I have a passion for pincushions and love seeing the millions of different pincushion creations there are on the web for them.  I thought I had seen just about every kind there was, but Karen Bailey surpised me with a wonderful tutorial on her Todolwen blog showing you how to make a vintage jelly form pincushion.  That's definitely one I haven't seen before.

Here's what Karen had to say about her tutorial:  At First Disapointed But Not Anymore ~ A New Tutorial - Hello my dear friends, I woke up at 6 am yesterday morning and since it was a grey and rainy morning and I had no intention to venture out of the house or wanted to spend my day tidying my craft room (I know I really should have), I decided I wanted to create a new tutorial for you in which I was going to recycle small tins. I sat down in my dining room at the big window for about 2 hours, wrote the instructions as a post, saved it and then worked on the actual creating part but unfortunately things just didn't want to look the way I had imagined them, so I gave up on the idea for the moment. Eventually I will return to it and work on it more another time. You never know, it might work out fine the next time round.

I must admit I was quite disappointed with myself that my idea didn't work, so I just had to try something different, hoping it would work out this time. The basic idea stayed the same but I decided to use different materials then I had chosen the first time and I think it worked out fine. So here is a new tutorial for you ...

... a vintage jelly form pincushion tutorial.

Please respect Karen's TERMS OF USE:  Please do not copy my tutorials in full and/or claim them to be your own and/or post them on your blog without my permission. Furthermore the sale of my tutorials is prohibited. All my designs are protected under copyright.

Karen's Bio: My name is Karen Bailey, and I am the wife for over 20 years to a now retired british serviceman and a Mum to two beautiful daughters. For many years we traveled and lived all over the world whilst serving in the army. After leaving the army we now live in Ontario, Canada. My passion is antiques, especially victorian unrestored furniture and household items and creating/crafting. For me there is nothing better when I have a moment to sit down and make something beautiful. My blog is 'Todolwen' which is an anogram made up from 'old to new' which is what I love to do ~ take something old and give it a new life. I hope you enjoy my makings as much as I enjoy creating them.

Wool Crazy Pincushion Free Tutorial By Kaaren Johnston of The Painted Quilt

I just love working with wool or wool felt.  And, I also LOVE pincushions. If you do, too then you'll be happy to know that Kaaren Johnston has a wonderful tutorial on her The Painted Quilt blog showing you how to make a wool crazy pincushion.  I just LOVE it.

Copyright © 2010 - All Rights Reserved - Kaaren Johnston of The Painted Quilt

Here's what Kaaren had to say about her tutorial: At the outset, let me say that all the wool that I used came from scraps that I have saved over the years. Whenever I work with wool, I save all the bits and pieces and store them by color in separate zip lock bags. When I’m working on a project that requires small pieces of wool in a specific color, I just reach into the plastic bin that holds all my baggies of scrap wool and pull out the appropriate bag.

If for whatever reason you don’t have any wool or you might be allergic to wool (perish the thought), you can also make this pincushion in the exact same way that I am about to show you using fabric. The instructions are identical.
